History of Big Island of Hawaii

The Big Island of Hawaii is believed to be the first visited and inhabited by Polynesian voyagers from the Marquesas islands about 1500 years ago. Today, the Big Island is still brimming with Hawaiian culture. Even though the island is thoroughly modern in it's amenities, one ancient Hawaiian god still seems to be alive and making herself known to everyone who visits here. Can you guess which one? It's Pele, the volcano goddess, who seems to have settled in Kiluauea Volcano around 1983, and keeping it in a constant state of eruption, continuing to display her awesome power.
